Vive La France
Rochelle Mann and Linda Mack have been musical collaborators and dear friends for over three decades. Throughout their careers as Professors of Music at Fort Lewis College, they performed together in countless recitals, concerts, and fundraising events. They are rejoining forces to present Vive la France, an evening of French chamber music featuring the flute. Please join them for a program that will span three centuries of works by composers including Debussy, Bizet, Boismortier, Fauré and Chaminade.
Rochelle Mann is a former Featured Scholar at Fort Lewis College, where she served as Music Department Chair as well as Acting Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. A graduate of Indiana and Arizona State Universities, she is currently a Professor Emerita at FLC, maintaining an active schedule as flutist, author, and educator. Dr. Mann has served as Principal Flute of the San Juan Symphony since 1983, and has also performed with the Santa Fe Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Texarkana Symphony, and Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra. Her recent solo and chamber concerts have included the Third Avenue Arts Recital Series, Durango Chamber Music and Bach Festivals, as well as the New Deal Salon series (AR) and Musica Viva (CA).
Linda Mack Berven earned her doctoral degree from the University of Illinois, and has enjoyed many years of teaching in the Music Department at Fort Lewis College. She currently serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Durango Choral Society and the Durango Women’s Choir. Her engagements as a conductor, singer, and pianist have included the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, San Juan Symphony, the Durango Bach Festival, and the Music in the Mountains Festival, where Linda also serves as the pre-concert lecturer. Her conducting engagements have ranged from performances at Carnegie Hall to concerts in Prague, Greece, Zagreb, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Linz. Linda has enjoyed playing many recitals with Rochelle Mann and looks forward to our next collaboration,Vive la France!
