Curt Brown moved to his late parents’ home on the Pine River in Bayfield in 2014, after decades as an award-winning journalist in Minnesota. He’s written a handful of nonfiction books, including a chronicle of Minnesota in 1918 when the flu pandemic, the first World War and forest fires converged. He continues to write about Minnesota History in the Sunday Minneapolis Star Tribune and also embraces history as a volunteer at the Pine River Valley Heritage Museum in Bayfield. The rest of the time, Curt and his wife of 40 years, Adele, are busy hiking, snowshoeing, camping and shuttling between three grown children in LA, SF and Portland — chasing four grandkids and live music performances whenever they can.
