John ScammonMember at Large

    John is the newest member of the PRA Board of Directors.  He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in music from California State University, Northridge where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

    After graduation he held Assistant Professorships at Southern Illinois University and Arizona State University, having started classical guitar programs at both institutions.

    In 1977 John made the decision to move from teaching to the business world.  His diverse business career began in the musical instruments division of Kaman Aerospace Corporation, where he served as Sales Manager, and later as Marketing Manager.  In 1984 John moved to the Phoenix area as Director of Sales and Marketing for a division of Ramada Inns, Inc.  Just a year later he was asked to head up corporate marketing for Great Western Bank and Trust, at the time the fifth largest bank in Arizona.  In 1986, the bank was purchased by Citibank and John moved to Southwest Savings and Loan Association, as Vice President, Marketing.

    Capitalizing on experience gained during his bank marketing days, in 1988 John co-founded American Data Resources, Inc., a data acquisition firm specializing in database marketing, market segmentation, sophisticated market research and highly targeted direct marketing programs.  In 1996, ADR was sold to Deluxe Check Printers, after which he co-found Database Marketing Associates, Inc., a marketing consulting, strategy, and execution firm. John retired at the end of 2021 after spending sixteen years as a Principal and Partner with CornerStone Services, a leadership development firm providing executive coaching to middle and senior leadership. Earlier activities include a partnership in two successful Scottsdale, AZ-area restaurants and raising Corriente cattle (rodeo stock) in Arizona prior to relocating to Bayfield, CO in 2022.
